# Update an Account

Updates an existing chart-of-accounts entry in your accounting platform.

        For `LEDGER_ACCOUNT` category: **accountCode** and **metaData.reportCategoryId** are required fields.   the value for `metaData.reportCategoryId` can be obtained using the <Anchor label="passthrough request" target="_blank" href="https://developers.getknit.dev/docs/passthrough-requests-for-sage-200#list-nominal-report-categories">passthrough request</Anchor> . _name_ is a honored field.
